Turning ambitions into measurable progress
At BORG Automotive Group, we believe that responsible business requires clear ambitions, measurable targets and transparency about our progress. We therefore set targets across key areas of our ESG work and continuously monitor our performance.
Our ambitions cover both the impact of our operations and products and our responsibility towards our employees. While we have made significant progress in several areas, we also recognise where further improvements are needed.

Our progress
Since 2019, we have taken a more structured approach to ESG, setting ambitions, measuring our performance and continuously developing our efforts. Over the years, we have reached several important milestones – from introducing ESG reporting and defining our own ESG goals to conducting materiality assessments, quantifying the environmental impact of our remanufactured products through Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and strengthening our approach to greenhouse gas emissions.
Our earlier ambitions have helped us drive progress and identify where further action is needed. We have achieved our ambition of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations by 30% compared with our 2020 baseline and are now building on this progress through our science-based climate targets.
At the same time, our ambitions continue to evolve. With new science-based climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) now in place, we are also working to define the next steps for our social and governance ambitions. This will help ensure that our future priorities reflect both the development of our business and the areas where we can make meaningful progress.
Committed to science-based climate action
As part of the continued development of our climate ambitions, BORG Automotive Group has committed to reducing our climate impact in line with climate science. Our greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming that they meet SBTi's criteria for science-based targets.
The validated targets give us a clear direction for reducing greenhouse gas emissions across both our own operations and our wider value chain.
Our targets
BORG Automotive Group has committed to the following science-based targets:
Scope 1 & 2
Reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations and purchased energy by 42% from 2020 to 2030.
Scope 3
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by 63.8% tCO₂ per DKK revenue from 2024 to 2034.
Together, these targets provide a framework for our emissions reduction efforts and enable us to measure and report our progress over time.
From targets to action
Having our targets validated by SBTi is an important milestone. Our focus now is on turning these targets into action by identifying opportunities to reduce emissions across our operations and value chain. We will continuously monitor our performance and communicate our progress as we work towards our science-based targets.

Scope 1 covers direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources owned or controlled by BORG Automotive Group.
Scope 2 covers indirect emissions associated with the electricity, heating and energy we purchase for our operations.
Scope 3 covers other indirect emissions throughout our value chain, including areas such as purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, and the use of sold products.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) enables companies to set greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in line with climate science. Validation by SBTi provides independent confirmation that BORG Automotive Group's targets meet the initiative's criteria for science-based targets.
