BORG Automotive Group Opens New R&D Centre in Wrocław to enlarge capacity for re-engineering software embedded products

In response to the rapid advancement of modern technologies increasingly being implemented across the automotive industry, BORG Automotive Group has announced the establishment of a new Re-Engineering Laboratory in Wrocław, Poland - the RE:LAB. The newly created facility, which is planned to open in October 2026, represents a strategic investment aimed at strengthening the company’s technological capabilities and expanding its product portfolio.

“The establishment of RE:LAB is an important step in strengthening our technological capabilities and preparing BORG Automotive Group for the growing complexity of software-enabled automotive components,” says Jesper Møberg, CEO of BORG Automotive Group.

Advanced automotive software analysis

RE:LAB has been established with clearly defined objectives. The core focus of the team will be on advanced reverse engineering in the field of automotive software, as an example, the analysis of communication data transmitted via automotive networks such as CAN and FLEXRAY buses. These communication systems are essential for the operation of modern vehicles, allowing various electronic control units to exchange data efficiently. By carefully examining this data, engineers will be able to reconstruct critical information about component behaviour and system interactions.The insights gained from this analysis will be used to create comprehensive data packages, which will serve as input for testing regenerated automotive parts. This approach ensures that our components meet stringent quality and performance requirements, aligning with BORG Automotive Group´s commitment to reliability and innovation.

In addition to its primary research functions, RE:LAB will collaborate closely with other departments, providing expertise to support also the installation of remanufactured mechatronics products in the cars and the cataloguing activities.

To achieve its ambitious goals, the new R&D centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This includes advanced measurement systems, specialized workshop equipment for vehicles installation, and dedicated tools for communication analysis.

The facility itself will offer both a modern laboratory space and an office environment. The laboratory will be designed to support hands-on experimentation and technical analysis.
