Two BORG Automotive innovations nominated for Automechanika Innovation Awards 2026
BORG Automotive has received two nominations for the prestigious Automechanika Innovation Awards 2026. The company’s remanufactured eDrive motor and remanufactured electric air-conditioning compressor have been selected from a total of 185 submissions by an international jury of automotive experts.
eDrive Motor nominated in Sustainable Drive Solutions
The remanufactured eDrive motor has been nominated in the Sustainable Drive Solutions category.
The eDrive motor is a central component in hybrid and electric vehicles, responsible for propulsion and energy recovery while driving. It is also a highly complex component containing valuable materials, advanced electronics and high-voltage technology. BORG is proud to be able to present that the company has developed a complete process giving used eDrive motors new life, including dedicated inspection, diagnostics and functional testing.
The solution has already been successfully prototyped for motors from two vehicle manufacturers and can provide the independent aftermarket with a reliable and more affordable alternative to a new OE component or an untested second-hand unit.
Remanufactured electric air-conditioning
BORG’s remanufactured electric air-conditioning, or eAC, has been nominated in the new Circular Economy & Remanufacturing category. The nomination recognises solutions that extend the lifecycle of automotive components and support the development of remanufacturing within the aftermarket. The first references are already in series production, with more than 30 applications available.
According to BORG’s life cycle assessments, remanufactured air-conditioning compressors result in 76% lower CO₂e emissions, 72% lower energy consumption and 84% lower use of new materials compared with newly manufactured parts.
Being represented in two categories is a proud achievement for the company’s teams and reflects the competence, dedication and continuous improvement behind the product development. It also underlines an ambition to provide customers with high-quality automotive solutions for a rapidly evolving vehicle parc.
Winners to be announced in Frankfurt
The winners will be announced on 8 September 2026 during Automechanika Frankfurt, which takes place from 8–12 September.
